What is the documentary about?
Under the Light of the Silver Moon is an upcoming feature-length documentary exploring the history, people, memories, and cultural impact of the historic Silver Moon Drive-In Theatre in Lakeland, Florida as it approaches its 80th anniversary in 2028.
Our goal is to celebrate not just the theater itself—but the generations of moviegoers, employees, families, and community members who helped make the Silver Moon special.
The historic Silver Moon Drive-In is located at 4100 New Tampa Hwy, Lakeland, FL, where it has operated since 1948.

Who is the filmmaking team?
The documentary is being produced by Joel G. Robertson and Heather Robertson, independent filmmakers and longtime storytellers with deep roots in Polk County and a passion for preserving local history, community stories, and unique cultural landmarks.
When is filming taking place?
Filming is currently underway and will continue through 2027 as we gather interviews, archival materials, and community stories leading up to the Silver Moon’s 80th anniversary celebration in 2028.
Can I participate in the film?
